Candidate’s Statement for Voter Information Guide

CORRY FRYDLEWICZ
Occupation: Web Developer, Project Manager
My education and qualifications are: I’m your neighbor, a regular working dog mom you’d see walking all over our beloved town and at community events like coastal cleanups. When ICE started terrorizing our cities after the 2024 election, I was afraid. Instead of running away, I decided to find ways a laid-off technical manager could use her skills to protect our sanctuary city. In 2023, our city council approved Flock cameras spying on us 24/7 in several high-density areas. ICE uses data Flock gathers about when we’re not home, where we commute, shop, and drop our kids off at school. All of us, not just criminals. Flock sells that data, stores it insecurely, and coaches local police to sell this grift to cities like ours. We need a councilwoman who asks the right questions and sees through big tech’s lies. We need an organized manager to keep important projects on track. Because more housing equals lower rents. Shorter delays keep roads safe and open. I believe we need to get big money out of politics, so I’m running a truly grassroots DIY campaign supported entirely by volunteers, free from annoying ads and drama. Let’s get things done instead. corry4emeryville.com

Hi neighbor! My name is Corry Frydlewicz and I’m running for Emeryville City Council this November. This is my first time running for public office, so you may not have heard of me yet. My face isn’t on glossy mailers begging for campaign donations and clogging your mailbox. I don’t buy donor lists and won’t spam your email and phone with ads like other candidates do every election.

I have a passion for helping our city get things done. I want to feel safe in my home. That includes safety from corporate and government interests taking away my freedom, time, privacy, and finances. I want to continue the great work our city is doing with housing, transportation, and investing in small local businesses. And I want to clear the way for reaching our collective goals.

I love it here. I put roots down in Emeryville in 2021 because I believe this is the most affordable, walkable, diverse sanctuary city in the Bay. I fondly imagine growing old here with y’all. I want to set us up to succeed in the decades to come, no matter who or what tries to stop us. Learn more at corry4emeryville.com.

Corry arrived in the Bay Area over 15 years ago and immediately fell in love with the local art, food, and culture. Bouncing across the country to whatever cities could support her evolving career showed her a variety of ways cities could be run, and the consequences of those choices for people living paycheck-to-paycheck.

While Corry never saw herself in politics before, recent national events awoke in her a sense of urgency and responsibility to stand up and offer her skills and passion to the city she’s grown to adore. She aims to ensure Emeryville continues to do better on issues like public safety, housing, and supporting small local businesses. Bringing her skills and experience in management, consensus-building, and technical communications to the council.

Corry plans to differentiate herself from other candidates by declining all donations from PACs and corporations. She refuses to plaster her face on ads all over the city or spam residents with messages. Is it naive to think she could win an election without these tactics? She doesn’t believe so, but you’ll be the ones who decide.
